After a first career teaching elementary school, Carleen turned to another passion, writing. With a degree in education rather than writing, she discovered lots of wonderful resources. She took classes at the Loft Literary Center in St. Paul, joined SCBWI and went to conferences, attended day workshops, and joined several author blogs for more learning. She is part of an online critique group, as well as a local group and finds the writing community to be a wonderfully sharing and helpful group.
Highlights of her ‘do it yourself writing school’ are going to author visits and meeting authors she has long admired. She dreams of one day getting some of her many manuscripts out into the world, too, and perhaps touching a child in the same way she has been touched by the magic of picture books.
